Budget update: we don’t have next year’s site budget yet
BSC updates:
teachers are sending home newsletters, some have websites
Mr. Hack checks in with afterschool programs at Bayview once a week, and Boys & Girls Club on Guerrero
EL grouping in place at Madison campus (K-2) and pull-out schedule for the ELLs
Discussion: Areas of Concern
How can we get more involvement from families in the SSC and PTA? Need to get more representation from the diverse community.
Hamilton Rec Center in Western Addition; Main Library with a small fee
Need some outreach effort to get more people involved to represent each community
We could identify liaison people to reach out to subgroups
Coordinate with room parents
Try for a date in April – tues or thur – April 13 or 20
Break up into café conversations format
Reminder re Town Hall meeting on Feb 25 – need to show up at the rally
Offer parking at CL and march together at 6pm
Get room parents and google group to get out info
Caitlin Mohan will make flyer: will open yard for parking, wear Claire Wear, and march from the school
Call principals at Galileo and Francisco to ask their parents to march from their school
What are we asking for? The state owes SFUSD $9 million in Average Daily Attendance. Schools first, reinstate budget items to the schools. We need professional development, we need training for teachers, we need violence prevention, don’t cut our school year, advanced placement, art, school buses.
Visual Thinking Strategies
We received $2500 grant to develop visual thinking to use art and other visual training for developing critical thinking skills
VTS is offered at the DeYoung, and our students will attend
