Treasurer’s Report
Total cash for the PTA are $171K, with restricted funds of $65K
Most of cash from last year’s Auction has been collected. Only a few hundred dollars not collected.
Robyn Lipsky requested a measure of how Green Zebra book performed vs Entertainment Books. David will look at.
John Wong requested a report on how well we are tracking to budget year to date. David will look at.
Robyn Lipsky mentioned that there were more scholarship needs for 4th grade Outdoor Ed than in previous years. The 4th grade class is working to raise the funds before coming to the PTA.
Need to make sure teachers know limit of scholarship funds per student in future.
TaeKwonDo Club has paid back the money PTA fronted them.
Auction Committee Report
Invitations have gone out
Letters to last year’s donors have gone out, thanks to John Wong.
Callers calling to follow up. Robyn reported positive results to date. Raised an issue of outdated lists because of high turnover in target companies.
Items start to be entered tomorrow morning, 2/16, MJ Call is running.
Magda McCormick working on menu with Sociale.
Many creative new auction items, including a NY fashion trip.
Have two volunteers to help with computer set up – working on testing iMacs – one volunteer dropped out because not familiar with Macs. Amanda will check with Vic as to whether a new PC donation makes more sense to go back to PC.
Note to make sure alcohol service permit is obtained on time.
Amanda will look for last year’s auction brochure to help give new parents an idea of what is involved in the Auction.
Sarah Moore is sending out more room parent reminders for donations.
Idea raised to provide alternatives to donate to school if there are Auction items that parents lose out on – e.g., “Don’t Go Away With Money In Your Pocket” – or, could do a grab bag of leftover Auction items @ $X/grab, or list of items that need funding at CL. Donors who could duplicate their offerings (e.g., group dinners) should be contacted ahead to see if they are willing. Giving Tree – allows people to donate more as they are checking out – grab a leaf as you check out, and allow funds to be directed. Dave McIlhenny will follow up.
Administrators’ Report
Mr. Hack apologized for not being here – is attending SF Alliance of Black Educators, with CL kids in attendance.
Tech Committee has met – looking at national standards for tech use in the classroom, and teacher responses to surveys on their interest in tech.
Thanked PTA for ordering the bridge for the play structure, and thanked PTA for releasing endowment funds for that.
TaeKwonDo club has 30 members. Kids really enjoying it. Thanked PTA for supporting it.
SSC Community meeting happened, but turnout was very low. Next meeting is March 7. Robyn suggested more explanation be provided about what the meeting is and what purpose of SSC is. Amanda is working on an information sheet for the Wed envelope.
Suggestion for FAQs for CL website to help Kindergarten parents. Amanda will work on putting some together based on her tour information for new parents.
Suggestion of using the Google group to have a thread for K parents.
